Anjel MS Fashion Collab
Ultimate Play Date, 2023
Ultimate Playdate was a collaborative Summer fashion collection between myself and
Fremantle based ethical clothing label The ANJELMS Project, with photography by Melanie Hinds.
The Bonnie Hislop x The ANJELMS Project Ultimate Play Date Collab launched online
on November 23rd 2023 with events in both Fremantle and Meanjin/ Brisbane soon
after.
Meanjin’s launch took place at The Station in Fortitude Valley on December 1st and 2nd
2023. In February 2024 the celebrations continued with a panel event and ceramic
workshops at the Fibonacci Arts Centre, Fremantle.
The collection features original prints by me as well as staple Anjel Ms prints in more
Bonnie-esque colour ways.
The garments are hand crafted in India by The Stitching Project, dyed with natural dyes
and printed using wooden block prints.
The idea behind these garments is that they are fun and practical for all different
activities.
Statement:
Our Ultimate Play Date is a gathering with all our favourite people in a space where we
can explore our creativity and push boundaries through all mediums of expression. This
is a space where we feel safe to connect and share, to listen and to learn from each
other. A space that allows us to express our individuality, our joy, our fears and our
passions - to challenge ourselves within a supportive network of like minded people.
The constant conversation between art and craft - how both are manifestations of our
inner selves and how, that by engaging in the practice of making, we transform.
Art is the ideal medium of which we tell our stories through. Beautifully imperfect and
endlessly fascinating, just like the stories it tells and the people who are creating it.
To create is an act of radical self love, of tenderness, of resilience, of reconciliation and
of healing.
Through creating we connect.
